Break a long page up into several pages, connected by links. Especially break up pages if you have a lot of big photos. Many people surf the internet at speeds of 28.8 or 33.6 .Keep in mind some are still using 14.4 modems (slow). Be especially careful on your first page. People may leave your website before it fully loads and miss out on all your great content. Your first page is usually an index page of where you can go next to get to the heart of your content. It should be attractive enough to pull people further into your site. If you wish to cater to a high speed audience then the size of the page is not a worry, or you can make a separate page for both high and low speeds. Many times this is seen as a choose your version choice on a sites opening page. Test your site to make sure your site is easy to navigate and use! If people can't navigate it, they may become frustrated and leave. Be careful what you post on the web. Many items are copyright, protected (even if they don't say it), or require special permission to use. Don't worry though, some sites make stuff for anyone to use for free! You can always make your own stuff too. Those with Personal or fun sites also will want to think twice before casually putting on your home work school address/name , or real full name on your site. Remember it is open to the public! In most cases I say don't do it. It can leave you at greater risk for being scammed by thieves. It is not usually necessary for personal sites. In fact, you probably don't know the people behind many of the big name sites or companies but you still use their products and services, be it a soft drink, telephone, or website.
