Page Eight Site Maintenance Maintain Your Site A tip on Web site maintenance and compatibilty. Be careful about using new web technologies and codes. All web browsers are different and not all of them can handle all the new html/scripting technologies. The two most widely used browsers are IE and Netscape, so be sure your pages work with them, or you could be missing a large audience. While websites will not always display the same in all web browsers, as long as you have IE covered you will have a majority of todays web audience covered. Some visitors will still be using, Firefox, Opera and Web TV. A simple code mistake that looks good viewed in one browser may display poorly in another. Different platforms (TV, computer, mobile device) are another obstacle. You can use the web to be sure your code is up to date. Look for web site related sites and articles. Also some services test your site for compatibility with all web browsers for free. These services can be very critical of your html, that does not mean it won't work fine, so just use it as guide!
