Making a website with SiteSpinner V2. A fantastic website maker you should try is SiteSpinner. Note: It only works if your computer is running Windows. If you want the full features of this program or to use it for commercial use, then this low cost, version is for you. It has the ability to make multiple page projects and comes with some multi page templates. This is a great program and is worth paying for. It lets you concentrate on your design, more so than trying to figure out how to place items exactly where you want them. You can order and download SiteSpinner with a discount from ProPowerHost SiteSpinner makes it easy to resize, rotate and position photos right on your webpage as you are making it. Get Started: First download and install SiteSpinner to your computer. You will still need a web hosting plan to upload your website to. If you are not yet hosting your site with us and need webspace, consider ProPowerHost web hosting plans here. Now, open SiteSpinner and create your website. Some quick tips especially for the full or trial version of Site Spinner V2: There are pre made templates you can use by clicking file, then open template... To add a new page to the template, click the green plus on the toolbar, and name it anything you want. To edit the existing pages in the template, use the dropdown box on the toolbar(to left of green plus in SiteSpinner). To select objects on the page, hold the shift button and left click. Images can overlap if you want them to. To bring your selected object forward or backward, click arrange, then order. There are many built in tutorials included with SiteSpinner. To test and preview any page click the arrow on the toolbar. This program is a powerful low cost website maker, and works great with your ProPowerHost account. No knowledge of HTML required. To upload your project to your ProPowerHost account: Click publish, then Publish Project. For the Export destination field, Select My Web Host(FTP). Select the FTP tab. A pop up will appear. Check the Do not display message again box, then click ok. Enter yoursitename.com in the Host Name field. Enter your user name and password. Use Passive Mode box should be checked. Leave the Remote Publish Directory alone, If you changed it, replace only a forward slash in it ex: / Note for advanced users: Should you want to put your pages in another folder on your web space, then you can use the Remote publish directory (after inputting username and password), by clicking browse. Then double click the folder you want or make a new one, then double click it. Note: your index.html page must not be in a folder. Note for all SiteSpinner users: Under the Pages tab it is possible to rename a page. Remember index.html will always be the first page viewed when some one clicks http://yoursite name.com .Your first page must be named index.html You can name other pages anything you want ex: cars.html. When making a brand new page, be careful not to use the same name as an existing page or it will overwrite it when you upload. The program default name for brand new pages is usually index.html Make sure you rename it if you have an index.html already. Also check all the other page names in your new page. You may also have to rename sub folders. Check things carefully at this point. If this is your first upload to your unused webspace, or if you are simply updating existing pages, you don't have to worry about overwriting pages. Click publish. When saving for the first time, you save a working project to your computer (the save as screen). This is the name of the entire project saved on your computer. Choose a name you can remember this project by (Like MY Cooking site) or just use the default name. That will be the file you open later for further updating your website or to add on some new pages to it. Click save. Your project will be uploaded to your website. When it is done, the box displays End. Click OK. Your site is now on the web. |
